How will the contract determine when the merge has completed?

The contract will determine whether or not the merge has happened by looking at the current block difficulty. However, since this project is fully on-chain, the contract won't update until the first post-merge transaction is sent to it.

What exactly will happen to the flowers when the merge happens?

When the first transaction is sent to the contract post-merge, all traits will be determined for all flowers, and the image as well as the animation will be published. On OpenSea, users will need to hit "refresh metadata" to reveal their flowers.

What types of rare traits are there?

A subset of traits can be seen in the sample section above, but many trait types will be kept secret until the merge!

Is it possible to figure out the traits of a flower before the merge?

Nope! The traits will be determined by a hash that is picked in the first transaction sent to the contract post-merge. Only one trait of the flowers can be seen, by looking very closely, at the buds.
